Forum: moviesandfilms Subject: Does Anyone Know What This Means???

I found this notation on a film in the copyright office on-line for the film "Island Of The Damned" the notice said:
"Short form copyright assignment; for a period ending Dec. 19, 1991." Does this mean the film is IN or OUT of copyright??

A "Short form Copyright Assignment" is a transfer of ownership of copyright for a period of time (usually a licensing deal, mortgage or catalogue/library sale) which has been filed with only the basic details (Item(s) and Parties) and not other more indepth info.

The movie is still under copyright (registration no PA0000000810). It was just a record of a change in ownership or licensee.
